Here is a small tutorial for you on how to create a gazebo on a foundation”.
I have also attached this tutorial as a Word doc for those of you who want to build off-line.


1. First you have to decide where on the lot your gazebo goes. When
that is done you choose the foundation tool and start to create the foundation

7. After the gazebo walls are up you place a wall on each of the other

9. Go up one level and choose a small fence and place around on top
of the wall. As I am going to have a dark roof on my gazebo I chose a dark

11. Fill in with the floor of your choice. This floor will in the end be the

12. Press CTRL + SHIFT + C and write
boolprop constrainfloorelevation false in the window that
drops down, and press enter to activate the elevation cheat. Go down to
ground level and choose the terrain elevation tool, for lowering the terrain.http://dev4.modthesims2.com:81/getimage.php?file=111435


13. Make a neat hole. This will be the shape of the roof later, but reversed.http://dev4.modthesims2.com:81/getimage.php?file=111436


14. Go up 2 levels and you can se that the roof has the same hole shape as

15. Choose the terrain elevation tool, for flattening the terrain and drag it

18. Go down to ground level again and use the terrain elevation tool, for

19. Now the ground is flat again and you have that nice domed roof on
your gazebo. Press CTRL + SHIFT + C and enter
boolprop constrainfloorelevation true in the window that

20. Remove the 4 extra walls with the wall tool.http://dev4.modthesims2.com:81/getimage.php?file=111443

22. A nice gazebo is in place. A bit boring maybe, but that will soon

23. Chose the foundation tool and create a small 1x2 foundation where

Umm this tutorial can VERY easily be simplified on steps 3 to 21 the four foundations placed can be avoided by simply leveling from the floor spaces on the outside of the gazebo walls, everything else seems to be needed!

Yeah, I agree that. If the side grids above the walls will be deformed as well, then just simply add two grids of a different tile (for easy removal later by means of "ctrl-shift-left_mouse_click") to extend the grid plain. In most cases, the deformation/twisting/bending/etc... wouldn't affect further than 1 grid coz that 1 grid is already bent for keeping the level/layer sheet connected. so, the second extended grid should remain horizontal/flat/plain.

After all, it's really a nice tutorial coz it's so easy to follow.

I have just downloaded the pdf version of this tutorial, thanks to Mod BV for making the file and thanks muchly to Moon EZ for the tutorial, as to the comment that steps 3 to 21 can be simplified, possibly so for those of you who know what you are doing, take it from me as one who knows nothing, haveing every little step spelled out makes things alot easier. Thank you people, a gazebo is now going next to my lake.

Argh.. I must be doing something wrong... I keep playing with this, but my floor above the foundation is always curved... I shall soldier on.. I must be missing a step somewhere

Sorry, kept thinking I'd solved it... but nope....

Ok... day later.. tested tested, hours of frustration, lol, ... I followed the tutorial exactly for 2 days now... but it always ends the same way. My foundation is ALWAYS still curved.

I've searched for 5 WHOLE HOURS IN A ROW tonight... and finally found another tutorial (with foundations... every other one I've searched on mts2, other sims sites, inside mike, en7en, and *shudder* the Sims2 BBS, etc, doesn't have this great feature of a foundation!!! Part of the frustration in finding an answer tonight - I've googled and search tooled each site till I'm blue in the face!!!). Now, this tutorial I found ( which is this one btw.... http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/sto...&user_id=661672 ... nice idea on the roof, but not as lovely a gazebo as yours!), says to delete the foundation and then rebuild it. Is there a step missing in YOUR tutorial?? Because for the life of me, I'm not dumb... but I can't make your beautiful gazebo following YOUR tutorial and my 30yo brain is just about done in, lol.

I hope you follow me... I ramble a lot... anywhoo.....Once I've levelled the top and then levelled the bottom... my roof is beautifully curved but so is my foundation still! What do I do to get the foundation level without deleting it as your tutorial doesn't mention deleting anything, or am I doing it wrong??? I can make a gazebo perfectly if I use a floor and no foundation... but that's not the point of your tutorial... lol...

I'm sorry if this is wordy or sounds naggy... it's truly not meant to be... I'm a HUGE HUGE fan of all of your work and love everything you do.... and I seriously tried to do this on my own without asking questions... but I really have come up against a brick wall. I'm going to go back into the game and try the delete foundation thing (though when i tried it before, it morphed my walls, but obviously I have to delete the WALLS and foundation, then re-place them).....

Anywhooo, would love if someone, anyone, has an answer to if a step is missing from this fabulous tutorial... or if it's just me and I'm a blondie! Thank you for reading this far!

*edit* Whoot, finally got something resembling a gazebo (don't laff at the roof (after a million tries, I stopped being picky at how the roof looked and was only interested in how it worked) and mismatched steps (I was trialling patterns and the new step colours from here, they rock!)... but I can only make this gazebo now by deleting the wall and foundation BEFORE doing the roof, and then adding them back in afterwards... which is not how your tutorial says to do it... lol... but would still like to understand your tutorial better if someone can help?? I still need help.... (hehe.....If I had $1 for every time someone told me that before..... )

I think i know what you are doing wrong in regards to that the floor(foundation) also is curved.
When you come to nr 15-16 in the tut, i belive you are using the terrain elevation tool to flatten both the foundation and the "roof", whiles you should ONLY flatten the roof here.
Io. You make the gazebo as described up to nr 14. Then you go up to the 2 floor (where the roof tiles are) and use the elevation tool to flatten them out. The foundation on the 1'rst floor and the ground on "floor 0" are still/should still be curved downwards to a hole shape.
Then you go all the way down to the gound (level 0) and flatten. This "lifts" the foundation and the roof above and should give you the flat foundation and the upwards curved roof.

A good thing to remember about the elevatin tool is that when used to flatten a curved or uneven area (both ground and floor levels) it will affect all floors/objects above, but nothing below.
Lets say you added a 3'rd floor to the gazebo in your pic, activated the elevation cheat and flattened out the "strange" roof. Then the foundation and ground below would still look the same as before whilest the 3'floor would have been morfed to the same shape as the roof on the 2'nd floor, but downwards instead.

I hope this makes as much sence to you as it does to me.

The idiot in me says noooo, I definitely do the roof first then the bottom, but I'm gonna have to go back.. but i did it sooo many times I'm 100% positive I level the top, then level the bottom... but I will check again.

Looks sooo awesome, especially with the coloured lights by jgwhiteus ( http://www.modthesims2.com/search.php?searchid=2423029 ) placed inside it and then have your sims go there at night! So romantic :D

** As for making sense, constrainelevation didn't make much sense to me until I saw Numenor's GREAT tutorials on the main TS2.com site ( http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/sto...&user_id=661672) It really clicked when I saw it with the wallwindows (as per the pic I've attached, really great tutorial thanks Numenor!! Very helpful!)... and it was great for testing myself too.... I build wallwindow test boxes and muck around.. This is how I played around with it for ages... but oh well.... I so know I must have done this wrong.... so thanks again anyways
